Sony Launches External Batteries for Smartphones & tablets

Monday,Sony announced that it'll be launching a new line of slim external batteries to support most of the smartphone and tablets.The batteries will be having a capacity of 3,500 to 7,000mAh. These external power support units weigh around 198 grams and measure 130.6mm by 12.9mm, making them almost the size of a modern smartphone.

 Charging devices via USB, Sony claims that these portable slim picks can be recharged up to 500 times and can charge most smartphones in an hour and a half. If you think that now you'll have to carry another smartphone-like device and you are not ready for that, Sony will also be releasing smaller "stick-type"  external batteries in assorted colors. Both battery types are set to launch this season, with prices ranging from 2,300 yen ($30) to 7,000 yen ($90). Perhaps it would have been much easier for the world if Sony would have provided a marginally thicker phone with world-class battery life!! What are your suggestions?

Sony PlayStation 3 (2012) Launch

Sony PS 3 is back.And this time ofcourse , with some mods.Aside from the obvious color variations (at least in the white model that's definitely headed for Japan), the first change that immediately jumps out is the absence of the visible disc slot on the console's front.

Just after their pre-TGS announcement, people were able to take a peek at Sony's new slimmed-down PlayStation 3 consoles. 

 We surmise that discs now load via a sliding tray mechanism of some sort -- a feature that we'll definitely take a closer look at when we grab a full hands-on on the show floor. There's also a grooved design up top, which makes a departure from the smooth casing from the previous models. From the display we took a gander at, an attachable base is included to secure the unit when used vertically.

Sony Xperia Tablet S gets the full teardown, shows its NVIDIA heart

So, you probably didn't even get the cellophane off your Xperia Tablet S yet (for those in the UK at least), but Sony has already beaten the likes of iFixit to the strip-down post.
 It's one of the firm's own engineers, Takuya Inaba, who takes a knife to the minty-fresh tablet -- revealing its NVIDIA innards for all to see. Of course, we could tell you all about how he opened up the tablet, removing 10 screws, and breaking the splash-proof internal seal, but we gather you'd probably rather see the deed for yourselves.

Sony Alpha A99 Launch Date delayed

Technical details of Sony's rumored Alpha A99 have been overflowing. The actual camera, however, has been elusive until now. 

A press photo just spotted on Xitek (and passed along to Sony Alpha Rumors) is believed to be authentic and speaks volumes about Sony's pro camera strategy: as shown, there's no obvious space for an optical viewfinder, hinting that the company's full-frame shooter is going with an OLED-based electronic eyepiece like that of its crop-frame A77 precursor. 

The image doesn't show much more than that and a conspicuous orange ring to remind us that we're gazing upon an Alpha, but it's tough to ignore that more compact (and hopefully lighter) body. Whatever the cosmetics are like, rumors now assert that the 24.3-megapixel, translucent-mirrored A99's early September release has been locked down to September 12th; if that's true, it may give photographers as much reason to be happy that day as phone buyers.

Sony Xperia Tipo up for preorder for Rs 9,499

The Sony Xperia Tipo is now up for pre-order on an online shopping store for Rs 9,499. The Ice Cream Sandwich device has not received an official unveil from Sony Mobile in India, but  the online shopping store estimates a release in the second week of September that is just three days away.

Apart from this, the Xperia Tipo is clearly designed to cater to a customer on a slightly tight budget. It features a 3.2-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels, a single-core Qualcomm Scorpion processor clocked at 800MHz, a 3.2-megapixel camera, 2.5GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot with support for 32GB of storage and a 1,500 mAh battery. Additionally, the phone will also come with 50GB of free Box cloud storage.

The Tipo will go up against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Y, and the HTC Desire C. Critically, though it will come a lower price point than the Desire C however will be slightly more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Y, so it will be interesting to see how it fares.
